ModusLink® CIO Neil Hampshire to Address IoT’s Impact on Warranty and Service Processes at the 2017 Warranty Chain Management Conference

Hampshire to Share Best Practices for Leveraging IoT to Enhance Item Registration, Warranty Options and Service Capabilities.

WALTHAM, Mass. — March 7, 2017 — ModusLink Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Steel Connect Inc. (NASDAQ: MLNK), a global, omni-channel technology and fulfillment provider, announced today that Neil Hampshire, Chief Information Officer, will deliver a presentation entitled, “How Smart Devices and IoT are Changing the Warranty and Service Industries” at the upcoming Warranty Chain Management Conference, being held from March 7-9, 2017 in Tucson, Ariz.

According to analyst firm Gartner, an estimated 37 billion new “things” will have joined the Internet by 2020; this proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart devices is revolutionizing the supply chain industry as we know it – especially when it comes to warranties. Ultimately, predictive analytics on data from these connected devices can and should be used to proactively support, maintain and repair products without interrupting customer use, allowing for a level of seamless customer support that drives customer loyalty, value and long-term revenue. In addition, these insights can transform product development and innovation.

Organizations’ ability to compete in an emerging digital economy will be contingent on creating value driven by the ability to capture and analyze the data streaming from smart devices and effectively turn big data into even the smallest amounts of actionable knowledge.

In this presentation, Hampshire will explore how IoT technologies are transforming warranty and service processes, and will outline best practices for organizations leveraging this technology to enhance item registration, warranty options and service capabilities.
