Brno Round Table – Supporting Our Local Economies on a Global Scale
For over ten years, ModusLink’s Solution Center in Brno, Czech Republic has been providing customers with a wide range of critical supply chain capabilities in the consumer packaged goods, medical device and technology industries – even providing the facility with some major upgrades and reservations as it reached its ten year anniversary in April 2015.
In an effort to further our commitment to the city of Brno and the surrounding region, a round-table discussion was held with representatives from local commerce and government groups on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 to discuss the challenges encountered by the changing business environment and to develop a strategy to focus on the positive changes for the city.
In attendance were members of the Brno city authority, the President of the Czech/American Chamber of Commerce, Czech Invest and Colliers, as well as several executives from ModusLink.
After covering ModusLink’s operating model and scale of employment to the local Brno economy, the event shifted to the infrastructure of the industrial park where the center is located and its logistical challenges, noting changes that all parties can come together and help bring to completion. The labor pool was also discussed, more importantly the need to attract foreign labor from both EU and non-EU countries in addition to accommodations and work permits that would be required.
All in all, the meeting was extremely productive with attendees leaving with a list of action items that will make Brno and its surrounding community even more successful. ModusLink has always taken pride in supporting all of the local economies for its business operations across the globe, and the Brno round-table was a prime example of that commitment.
